Design web experience that highlights the variety of specialty milk at Target.

Through targeted native ads, programmatic ads, social media, and an educational landing page on Target.com featuring sub-categories and brands, Target hopes to drive awareness and boost sales of specialty milk and non-dairy alternatives.

Inspiration

Product packaging.

Utilizing Target’s style guide, we used the featured products as inspiration for color, shapes, and flavor cues to enhance the design direction of landing page and ad placements.

 
 

Existing landing pages.

We also used live landing pages for other Target categories to inspire our layouts—specifically paying attention to product groupings, lifestyle imagery, and product shots.

Assets

Target provided limited assets.

Using the Target style guide, our team was only provided product images, logos, and access to Targets image bank. We were tasked with finding stock imagery for the landing page experience and any additional assets needed for the ad placements.

Process

1. Sketches.

After our kickoff meeting, we sketched out a general layout of the required landing page sections requested by the client. Many of the product details were TBD at this time.

 
 

2. Low-fi wireframes.

We took our initial sketches, first round of copy, and available SlingShot modules (Target’s platform for landing pages) to build out a low-fidelity desktop wireframe of the landing page, and get approval from the internal team.

 
 

3. High-fi wireframes.

In order to quickly gain buy-in from the client, we created high-fidelity desktop and mobile wireframes with the additional product details we received after creating initial wireframe comps.

 
 

4. Digital ads.

Three versions of internal and external ad placements were designed, each version focusing on a specific product type within the specialty milk category.

Results

Client was elated with initial high-fidelity wireframes and ads.

In round one, the client approved ad placements and landing page creative with minimal changes to featured products and brands. Final landing page creative was implemented into SlingShot for final client approval.
